If filling up your gas tank causes you to groan and sigh due to the high prices, follow these tips to help save gas!  You’ll save some money by not having to fill up as often

1.  If your gas cap is not sealed airtight, gas will evaporate quickly.  This leads to wasted gas, which is wasted money, so make sure your gas cap is sealed tightly.

2.  Do not put in any more gas after the nozzle clicks.  This can lead to gas overflowing which can be harmful to your exterior and also to your body!

3.  Unless you have a high performance vehicle that requires high octane fuel, use the lowest possible octane fuel.

4.  Park your car in a garage or in the shade.  If your vehicle is baking in the sun for numerous hours, it will take a long time to get cool, which leads to more fuel consumption due to running the air conditioning.  If parking in the shade is not an option, consider investing in a vehicle cover.  An example of a great cover to help keep your car cooler is the DuPont Tyvek®- which is able to lower the temperature up to 30 degrees!

To help properly protect your bicycle, especially if you have to store it outdoors, here are a few tips.  Keep a lock on your bike.  This will help avoid theft, especially if you live in an area prone to crime.  Use a bicycle cover.  This will help avoid rust, fading from the sun, and help prevent mold and mildew growth.  Make sure your tires have the proper amount of pressure.  Too much or too little can lead to a flat tire.  Before riding, be sure to check your chain, breaks, seat, and handle bars.  This will help make sure you’re riding safely.

I hope all of these tips helped for your bicycle riders!  And if you don’t ride a bike, think about making the investment- it is a great way to stay in shape, protecting the environment, AND traveling to all of your destinations.
